For the bare-necked
There are few things more considerate than making something homemade for your guy. For those knitters out there, make your guy a simple scarf using his favorite colors. They all need them, and knowing you spent time on this will warm him up even more. $20 and up.

For the sentimental guy
You’ve been together forever — your ideas for the 14th are lacking.  What better than a Photo Book from Shutterfly? Collect pictures from the last few years, or from a special time in your relationship. It’s a bit mushy — but he will be able to keep it on his bookshelf without getting mocked by his bros. Starting at $11

For the gift giver on a serious budget
There are few things that will light anyone up more than reading on paper why you love them. Whether you write 10 reasons, 50 reasons, or 100 reasons — he will cherish this note or card forever (or, er, at least until you break up). Free

For the romantic
Put together a date night basket to enjoy a night away from frat parties, your roomies, and school obligations. We suggest including a movie you two love, Valentine’s Day candy, mini bottles of champagne or fancy sodas, a take-out menu so you can order in, and a thoughtful card. $10 and up

For the perfect mood
No matter who you celebrate the holiday with, you can get in the spirit by decorating your dorm room or off-campus apartment with mason jars filled with red and pink M&Ms, pink marshmallows, candy hearts, and other Valentine’s Day candies. At the end of the night everyone can take home a jar of goodies! $10

For the cook
If you and your mom, your sister, your guy (really whoever) love to cook together, preserve all your favorite recipes in a cute handmade book. Introduce each recipe with a little note like, “this is the chicken dish we made the first time we cooked together!” $5
