Hello collegiettes! So weird that this is my last blog post, it feels like just yesterday that the program started! I’m so proud of the other bloggers and I for sticking to this commitment, and cannot thank Her Campus and SELF Magazine enough for selecting me for the program and helping me along the way. It has been a magnificently wonderful experience.
I’d like to start off that my final weight is…*DUN DUN DUN*…120 lbs!. Here are my before and after pictures:
That means that I lost 13 pounds over the course of 2 months. While this isn’t the 15 I was hoping for, I’m giving myself credit anyway because this was the most successful weight loss period I’ve had since I was 12, when I lost around 35 pounds (I was extremely overweight back then) over the course of 4 months.
One of my top priorities for this summer is to continue trying to be healthy and hopefully lose at least 5 more pounds. I think 5 more pounds and I will feel like I look my best, even though being truly comfortable with your body comes from your inner peace of mind. Even though I won’t follow a strict diet anymore, I definitely know to not overindulge, the importance of portion control, eating a balanced plate of food groups, and I will definitely try to go to the gym frequently.
Other things I want to do this summer include things like reading books for fun, seeing all of the amazing movies like Great Gatsby and Monsters University, get a head start on one of my fall classes, and breaking out of my introverted shell a little bit more by networking with new people currently in NYC (UMich alums, and the other ‘Lose the Freshman 15’ bloggers especially!).
My current plans are (as in my non-‘Lose the Freshman 15’ life), include: Being back at my old job working as a secretary for a government agency in downtown NYC (so if anyone wants to meet up, just tweet me!). Applying for several virtual (paid) writing opportunities for this summer and next year, because I’m 96% sure I will barely be able to afford food along with my rent when school starts. I was selected as one of the MTV “trendspotters” that HC advertised to the team to apply for, which has been great so far. I started my own personal blog and one as an ode to my coffee obsession. Lastly, I’m just trying to not let my crazy family drive me insane while I’m home, which will probably be the most difficult.
Overall, I would like to thank Her Campus and SELF Magazine for this amazing opportunity, and Dietbet, Zico, and New Balance for being awesome sponsors. You all can keep in touch with me through my Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. Thanks for reading!
With love,
Nicole E
