Lose the Freshman 15: Losing weight one good decision at a time

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

dailylog42It’s crunch time people. And unfortunately, I don’t mean the good, abs-trimming kind.  Even with this past week being life changing for me in a positive way (still can’t believe we’re engaged!), school continues to be pretty demanding. Last week, I seriously spent from the time I got home from work at 5 p.m. until 2 a.m. working on homework and job applications. Then I had to turn around and wake up at 7 a.m. the next day.

The life of an almost graduate is exhausting. Which, as you can imagine, means I have to be extra creative and determined to work in my fitness routines or ensure that what I’m putting in my mouth isn’t going to ruin all my efforts for the past couple of weeks.

I’ve tried to workout as much as I can this week, but I know it wasn’t the ideal amount of workout time. No lie, on Saturday, I decided to exercise, but before I could move, I fell asleep on the couch for two hours. Yeah. Pathetically exhausted.

So when I stepped on the scale this morning, I was terrified. The thoughts about last week’s pound gain still haunted me, and I was remembering the cake tasting Addison and I got to experience at another bridal show which happened on campus this past weekend. (P.S. Did you know you can put cheesecake in the middle of your wedding cake? Crazy, right?)

But somehow, by some miracle, despite eating out at restaurants and fast food places all this week and even partaking in cake tasting, I lost 3 lbs!

This means that not only did I lose the pound I gained last week, but I also lost two more bringing my total weight loss to 13 lbs—only two little pesky pounds away from losing my short-term goal of 15 lbs!

Now, more than ever, I am realizing that I don’t need to be Super Turbo Fitness Lady to live healthily and lose weight. Who has time for that anyway? I can be a normal college kid, dealing with normal college stresses and just make healthier, more informed choices and still get results.

I’m so glad I made my fast food plan last week and planned ahead before eating out at different restaurants with my friends. It’s little changes like these that can make a huge difference in your life and the way you feel about yourself.

So do yourself a favor and ditch the notion that you need tons of free time to be a healthier, leaner you. You can boost your health and drop the pounds, one healthy decision at a time.

I used to think it was the Jump Start Diet that was changing my life.  Now I’m realizing I’m actually the one changing my own life. The Jump Start Diet just gave me the tools and the strength to accomplish my goals on my own.
