Hello Everyone!
My name is Hayley Britt and I’m a senior studying Business at the University of Oregon. As a Group Exercise instructor at our campus gym, I thought I was immune to gaining the “freshman 15” since I teach classes 2-4 times per week. Fast forward to senior year, and I have found out that I am (unfortunately) not an exception to gaining the “freshman 15,” and actually gained a whopping 22lbs since my senior year of high school. Going into college, I was very aware of the potential to gain the “freshman 15”. I read a lot of articles saying many college students gain weight due to not playing sports as they did in high school, so by working out I thought I would stay fit. Little did I know, working out does NOT keep off weight, and all the stress eating during finals, game-day food and drinks really do add up.
Coming into college, I weighed 140lbs, a healthy weight on my 5’6 frame and a pant size of 4. Now, I weigh 162lbs and squeeze into a dress size 8 / 29 size jeans. This spring break I have been in Miami, Florida, and I couldn’t even bear the thought of being in a bathing suit! What I see in the mirror doesn’t reflect who I am. I do not feel like myself at all, and my confidence has plummeted. That being said, I also am sharing this photo with you of me on my last day of Spring Break in Miami. This is SO hard for me to put this photo, because I am so embarassed! However, I know this will help me stay accountable to you! I know many of you can relate, but there is good news!
The good news is that we have the ability to make a change NOW and get back to feeling confident and being healthy! With the help of the fabulous Her Campus and Self Magazine, I will be blogging my journey these next eight weeks as I revamp my diet and get back to ME! I will be following the Drop 10 plan from Self Magazine. This is a free and flexible plan where you are actually eating delicious food and have 200 calories worth of treats per day (wine & chocolate…hellllooooo). If you have 5, 10, 15 or even 20+ lbs to lose, join me in dropping my Freshman 15 at SELF Drop10 Diet here. To make this even more fun, I put 20 dollars on the table to bet that I would lose the most weight. This will keep me accountable because there is money on the line- and you all know as college students, extra cash is always a good thing. If you are trying to tone up for summer too, bet with me at www.dietbet.com/freshman15.
I am so excited to share this journey with you while I learn how to enjoy my last term in college while treating my body right! I will be sharing my ups and downs (let’s hope for mostly ups) and tips I pick up along the way!
To get started with me, sign up at self.com/drop10 and add to the bet at www.dietbet.com/freshman15. I know I will need your support and as a team, it is always easier! So tell me, what are your goals for the next 8 weeks?
I will be posting daily on my twitter & instagram account, both @britthayley. Connect with me & get yourself ready for a fresh start :)
