Hello, hello my favorite ladies!
So, I am excited to share with you the love of my life. They are always there for me at the push of a button from the first thing in the morning to the last second before I fall to sleep at night and I couldn’t be happier.
Okay, confession: I’m taking about my iPhone. Total loser, I know, but my favorite companion has seriously been SO helpful through out the Drop 10 plan. That being said, I’ve decided to dedicate this blog post to my favorite Apple gadget and the 5 most useful Health and Fitness apps that I’ve discovered to help me lose the freshman 15! The best part? You can download them all for yourself for less than $2. Check them out:
1. My Fitness Pal
Cost: FREE
Sometimes it’s a little hard sticking to SELF’s plan at the dining hall, but I usually try to stick to their calorie count for each meal. Unfortunately I don’t have a whole lot of say in the meals that my school serves on a daily basis and it can get a little tricky knowing how many calories each item has with out nutrient listings- which are almost never offered. That’s where this great app comes to the rescue. All I need to do is plug in what I’m eating and My Fitness Pal tells me the number of calories per serving, making calorie tracking a breeze!
2. Nike Training Club
Cost: FREE
This is one of my favorite apps for mixing up my workout routine! The 15, 30, and 45 minute workout are perfect for someone like me with a suuuuper busy schedule. But don’t let the short times fool you, some of these workouts are seriously tough. This app also rewards you for completing a certain number of workouts. Last week I earned a full batch of smoothie recipes after completing 180 minutes of activity. YUM!
3. Zombies, RUN!
Cost: $1.99 for the 5k version
Okay, I’m going to be honest. I am not a big fan of running. Like at all. Not even the most perfectly planned out playlist can keep me motivated. Until I found this app, which turns your run into a simulated apocalyptic attack in which Zombies are chasing you. Best. Thing. Ever. Never have I been more motivated to run faster then when I am trying to keep from having my brain eaten. I give this app serious props for making me actually excited to go to the gym and run.
4. SELF Beach Body Workouts
Cost: $0.99
This app is a great substitute to mix up the Drop 10 strength training workouts. The creators at SELF rounded up some of the best exercise to target the areas you want to look best in your bikini, which is perfect given that summer is right around the summer. (65 days away to be exact.)
5. MapMyFitness
Cost: FREE
This is perrrrfect for people like me who prefer to run outside but don’t always have access to a track. MapMyFitness lets users map out a route based on the area that they live in, so you can track exactly how far you are running, biking, or walking. It’s also great when you want to mix up your running route. I always love finding new running spots in the city!
