Here’s The Perfect Smutty Book To Read Based On Your Spring Break Destination

Spring break is the perfect time to pick up a new book with a week to relax and reset. My method? Heading to the bookstore and grabbing a brand-new read to keep myself busy during the college break. There is no better feeling, as a BookTok girlie, than curling up with a good book — especially when it contains the perfect amount of smut. Whether you are an enemies-to-lovers kind of reader, or looking for a romance without a cliche happy ending, there is a smut book for you.

So, while you’re packing for your spring break trip, don’t forget a beach read (or a few). Whether you’re on the East coast or West coast, these books are perfect for any spring break destination. So grab your boarding pass and the perfect book for wherever you plan on jetting off to this spring break.

Or, just read ’em from your couch. I don’t judge (because same).

If you’re headed to Washington D.C., read The Things We Never Got Over.

I might be biased because Things We Never Got Over is my favorite book, but I’m literally obsessed with it. Set in Northern Virginia, a runaway bride, Naomi, stumbles into a small town looking for her law-breaking sister. But instead, she finds a tattooed Viking of a barber named Knox Morgan and the niece she never knew about. Knox says he doesn’t like high-maintenance women, but Naomi might just be able to change that. It’s sweet, but the smutty scenes are absolutely toe-curling.

If you’re headed to Hawaii, read The Unhoneymooners.

Hawaii for spring break? Iconic. Pretending to be your twin sister to use her free honeymoon trip to Hawaii? Also iconic. For your spring break read, might I suggest The Unhoneymooners. Olive has always felt unlucky. But after her sister, Amy, gets food poisoning at her own wedding, Olive’s luck changes. But only kind of, because when she attends Amy’s honeymoon, she realizes she is stuck with her biggest enemy and the wedding’s best man, Ethan. As the two experience forced proximity in paradise sparks fly. It’s the perfect enemies-to-lovers romance to read as you bathe in the sun. All you need is a daiquiri, TBH.

If you’re headed to London, read Bridgerton: The Duke & I.

The Netflix series Bridgerton is truly stunning, right down to every sequin on every ball gown. But the books? They’re freaky little reads. For the first book, get ready for a slow burn as Daphne Bridgerton, the diamond of the season, enters society looking to marry. After an unfortunate series of events, she is forced to fake an engagement with her big brother’s best friend, the Duke of Hastings, who has sworn off marriage. And, if you couldn’t guess already, it’s only a matter of time before sparks fly between the two. Period-piece smut is always better.

If you’re headed to L.A., read The Charm Offensive.

What’s more Hollywood than a reality dating show? The Charm Offensive follows a reality show producer, Dev, who has always been able to craft the contestant’s perfect love story. But when Charlie joins the show to regain this public image everything starts to slip. Charlie doesn’t believe in love and is cold on air, but the plot only thickens when he realizes that he feels a spark for Dev, but not the contestants. It’s an easy read, so it’s perfect to read by the pool while you soak in those SoCal rays.

If you’re headed to Boston read It Ends with Us.

The whole world is obsessed with Colleen Hoover, and it makes sense: Her smut scenes are to-die-for and the drama is jaw-dropping. This is totally the case for It Ends With Us. After moving to Boston after college, and after her father’s death, Lily meets Ryle on the roof of his building. There are instant sparks between the two, which leads us to a whirlwind of great sex and dark secrets. Trust me, you’re going to love this one.

If you’re headed to New York read The American Roommate Experiment.

Is anyone else obsessed with the fake dating trope? The American Roommate Experiment follows Rosie, a woman who quit her well-paying job to be a romance writer. And when her apartment decides to literally crumble around her, she uses a spare key to stay in her best friend’s apartment. However, her best friend had already lent the apartment to her cousin, Lucas… who happens to be Rosie’s crush and favorite person to Insta-stalk (relatable, TBH). It’s the perfect balance of sweet and smutty.

If you’re headed to Miami, read Beach Read.

OK, so Beach Read doesn’t take place in Florida, but it’s literally about the beach, so I stand by my rec. January is a romance writer who feels that love doesn’t actually exist. When she moves to her father’s lakehouse to write, she realizes her neighbor is her arch-nemesis from college and thriller author, Gus. As the two reconnect, they decide to — in an attempt to cure writer’s block — swap assignments for the summer. But as January attempts to pen a thriller, and Gus a romance novel, the two start to fall for each other. The smut scenes are so female worship, and I’m into it.

Julia is a national writer for Her Campus. While she writes for all verticals, her focus is the wellness section, bringing you everything you need to know about relationships, astrology, and the best ways to get down and dirty. Julia is a grad student at Syracuse University where she studies communications. She is a graduate of Stony Brook University, where she studied journalism with a minor in women's studies. During her time at SBU, she was a VS PINK campus rep, and an active member of Her Campus @ SBU. When she isn't writing, you can find Julia reading a smutty romance novel, hitting up her local crystal shop, or thrifting with an iced oat milk latte in hand. She's a Capricorn (but you probably already knew that) and a practicing yogi.
