Itâs 2022 and, at this point, I know Iâm not the only one whoâs constantly looking at the stars for answers. For me, astrology has become a way to explain my thoughts, actions, and even my toxic traits at times. (Iâm a Pisces, okay?!) However, if youâre not an astrology lover â or rather, a cosmic skeptic â thereâs no denying that astrology is a whole âlotta fun to read and talk about. And Hasbro Games is taking the conversation around astrology to a whole new level.
Their new game Sun Moon Rising (Amazon, $22) is a fun twist on a card game thatâs made for astrology fans and newbies alike. Created by Capricorn icons, Emily Nichol and Priya Gill, Sun Moon Rising came about after the two besties bonded over their love for astrology. Pair that with their hard-working Earth sign energy, and youâve got the makings for an innovative, fun, and unique business venture. It was basically written in the stars.
Donât freak out if you donât know all of the ins and outs of astrology, all you need to know is your sun, moon, and rising signs. Once you know your big three, and have a group of three to six friends, youâre all set to play. Essentially, Sun Moon Rising puts your friendâs knowledge of you to the test: do they know you better than the stars?
To play, each player will draw 5 cards from the deck that corresponds with their sign, and grab a sun and moon token for voting true or false. For this part, you can use either your sun (which is best to play with anyone), your moon (which is best to play with close friends), or your rising (which you can play with new acquaintances or people who donât know you well).Â
When youâre ready to get started, the oldest player starts by pulling a card from their own pile. The cards have statements running from âMy phone battery is under 50% nowâ to âIâve given my past partner way too many chancesâ. Then, the group will use their tokens to decide whether this is true or false about the person reading the card â sun-side for âtrue,â or moon-side for âfalseâ. If all of the vote tokens match, then everyone discards a card. If it’s not a perfect match, those who didn’t match your vote draw a card. The first person to get rid of all of their cards wins! Youâll get the hang of it once you start playing.
Sun Moon Rising is great to play with your besties, or with people you want to get to know better. Itâs a fun, and unique, way to get deep â and learn more about your star sign, while youâre at it. Catch me pulling this out at every single dinner party from now on.
