Have A Matching Tattoo With Your Ex? Tinder Wants to Help Cover It Up

When I think of Tinder, a million things come to mind. For example, my friends’ routine “swipe left or right” debates, their extremely interesting date stories, and my college’s Barstool Chick’s Tinder Tuesday posts. I don’t normally think about tattoos when I talk about Tinder, but I might start as the company is launching its newest campaign, Ink Twice.

The campaign is dedicated to anyone who’s ever gotten a tattoo dedicated to their former significant other, or even situationship. Think, Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson getting tattoos for one another, just for their relationship to end after four months of being engaged. Or, the fact that Davidson also had tattoos dedicated to former girlfriend Kim Kardashian.

It’s embarrassing and awkward to have a tattoo dedicated to your ex, imagine your collarbone saying “My girlfriend is a lawyer,” but you’re currently single. It’s just strange, and might not leave the best impression when going on first dates. Pete Davidson, this new campaign was made just for you.

These tattoo incidents aren’t that uncommon either, as 47% of singles feel self-conscious about entering a new relationship with a tattoo from a former flame. To make matters worse, 43% of tattooed young singles say dating someone with a tattoo from a previous relationship would be a dealbreaker.

Thankfully, Tinder is here to correct your tattooed mistakes for free. The Ink Twice campaign is eligible in cities like New York City, Los Angeles, Austin, and Miami, and it’s the perfect way to start fresh if you have a matching tattoo with an ex.

How do I apply for the Tinder Ink Twice Campaign?

The application process is relatively simple: singles with tattoo regrets should click the link for their desired city and complete the prompts in the pre-loaded email to send their application to Tinder’s local tattoo partner. It’s important to include your name, date of birth, a photo and description of the existing tattoo along with a preferred cover-up design, and a personal reply to the contest question in your application.

If selected you’ll be contacted directly by the tattoo studio in your selected city on Feb. 20 for a cover-up consultation. The tattoo studio will confirm if they can move forward with your cover-up after the consultation. From there, you’ll have three months to schedule a free cover-up.

Not all tattoos will be considered for a coverup though, like those with nudity, identifiable faces, or pornographic, obscene, or otherwise offensive content (but that seems relatively reasonable to me).

A tattoo dedicated to your partner might seem like a done deal; you love them, so why not dedicate a part of your body to them for the rest of your life? You don’t have to be stuck with them forever if things don’t work out, Tinder’s Ink Twice might just be your new, permanent solution.
