Big things are happening
- Not that into football and think the half time show is the only part you cannot miss? Think again. You won’t want to miss this year’s pre-game show (before Alicia’s National Anthem) as it will surely be one to remember. The National Football League is flying a group of 26 students from the Sandy Hook school chorus and their families to New Orleans for a very special tribute to victims of the Newtown tragedy. The students, accompanied by musical diva Jennifer Hudson, will perform ‘America the Beautiful’ at the Superdome this Sunday.
- This year’s game is cutely and aptly dubbed the ‘Bro Bowl.’ First Super Bowl in NFL History in which opposing coaches are blood brothers! Big bro John vs. little bro Jim – no matter the outcome, this family affair will end with a victory for one Harbaugh son.
- Although each team has lost its Super Bowl v-card, they both have yet to lose the game itself. Compared to the Ravens who will make their second Super Bowl appearance, the 49ers are the only team in NFL history appear to in the more than one Super Bowl (5 to be exact) and never lose (a straight 5-0 Super Bowl record baby).
- It’s the end of an era in B’moore. Linebacker Ray Lewis will retire post-Super Bowl at the end of the 2012 season. Aside from being one of the most decorated players in the NFL, Lewis is one of the only players to start and finish his career on the same team (talk about Baltimore blood!).
With the exception of some must know lingo and the actual logistics of the game itself, you should now be equipped ready for kickoff (remember 6:30 PM)!
